Course Syllabus

While this is a pretty accurate representation of what you'll go through in our two months together, it does occassionally change up a bit depending on how the class as a whole is doing.

 

Month One

Week 1

Monday | We'll learn the basics of HTML, the terminology and the different tags we can/should use.

Thursday | We'll learn the basics of CSS, the terminology and a few different ways we can style html.

Week 2

Monday | We'll learn more on how to properly use HTML5 and it's different tags as well as learn a basic folder structure of websites.

Thursday | We'll learn more CSS properties and understand how they interact with one another. We'll also learn about being semantic.

Week 3

Monday | We'll start building our first, official website homepage together, fashioned after a live website.

Thursday | Continue creating the previous website and learn more about CSS pseudo-classes.

Week 4

Monday | We'll start building our second website homepage, full of eye-candy effects.

Thursday | Continue creating the previous website and learn how to create engaging landing pages.

 

Month Two

Week 5

Monday | We'll start by going back to our first website and making it responsive using different units and media queries.

Thursday | We'll cover the newest addition to responsive web design called "flex-box" and make a website from scratch using it.

Week 6

Monday | As this is the last week of the basic package, we will cover the practical use of coding by using a CMS.

Thursday | As the last day of the basic package, we'll spend this day creating a website on our own from scratch (or through squarespace), answering any questions we have left.

Week 7

Monday | We'll learn the basics and the terminology of Javascript and see the power it holds.

Thursday | We'll continue familiarizing ourselves with Javascript and some of it's finer details.

Week 8

Monday | We'll start using jquery, javscript's more relatable cousin, and start making our previous websites more interactive.

Thursday | As the last day of class, we'll touch on slightly harder javascript effects that'll help you when working on websites in the future.
